I have the cutest cousin in the world, and I think you'll agree after you see these pictures I took of her this last April when I got to babysit for my aunt and uncle. A-dorable!! :)

summa time

Summer is a season I love. It is warm. It is sunny. It is relaxed. Summer to me always seems to involve the water. And I love water. These pictures epitomize summer to me.

texture

My roommate and dear friend is a graphic designer and artist. She also happens to have a thing for texture, especially the texture of water and the ocean.

something good

I love to take pictures of flowers. They are my favorite subjects because they just sit there and look pretty, and I get to shoot as many angles as I want of them. Flowers are just so much fun. :)

I went to my favorite community garden the other day because I had time. These are a few of my shots from that day.
This beautiful butterfly was very cooperative in posing for me. :)

TOMS Wedges...in aqua which matches my entire wardrobe...such a great investment!!

This little flower was just sitting on this bench. I have no idea who put it there, but there it sat.

My blogging music tonight was Ingrid Michaelson's Be Ok album.
Here's a taste:

adventurers

Two of my good friends have embarked on an adventure called the Wander and the Runaway, and they asked me to do a photoshoot for them to have pictures to put on their website. I was glad to be able to help them out. We started at our favorite coffeeshop where we hang out, drink amazing coffee, and dream.

I might be a tiny bit jealous of their tattoos...just a tiny bit.

Then we went to a nearby park for some fun pics at the railroad tracks.

which way are we going?

One cause that is a shared passion with all of us is TOMS Shoes. And we love our TOMS!!! They are well loved and well worn and just right. Check out the TOMS website for more information. We also love to take pictures in our TOMS and of our TOMS.

I told you I love to take pictures in my TOMS. :)This is just one pair...keep your eyes peeled for pics of the other pairs I own.

I had a fantastic time taking pictures of my lovely friends, and I wish them the best of luck on their adventures.

drum roll please

I am not a photographer -- not in the professional sense anyway. I do, however, love to take pictures, and I love when other people enjoy my photos. That is why I am starting this blog because I enjoy photos.

I love photography because it's something I do for myself. I don't do it because I get paid to (although I wouldn't mind being paid to take pictures) or because other people want me to (although I have been known to take pictures because people ask me to). I simply take pictures because of the joy that I get merely from the act of taking pictures. I love messing around with the settings and the angles and the colors. I love the rush I feel when I get that perfect shot that I wanted.

I take pictures because my best memories are tied up in them. A picture transcends time and change. A picture tells a story of what was and what is and what might have been. A picture is powerful. A picture is a world unto itself.

Sometimes I will perhaps tell you the story of a certain picture. And sometimes I will just let the picture tell its own story. My ultimate goal, though, is that you would enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoy taking them. That is when I will truly be a successful photographer.
