i forgot about these. . .
I had forgotten that I took these pictures a couple weeks ago at my favorite coffeeshop. I love how the decor of this particular coffeeshop is very beachy. . .you know how much I love the beach. But I also love the sound of milk steaming and the relaxed atmosphere that a coffeeshop provides. This is literally one of my favorite places in the world. Now if only IT were by the beach. . .

tuesday: something to love
People from work are getting sick, so I have been called in already once this week, and am going in early again today. I just pray that I am not added among the numbers of the growing sickness. Winter seems to be coming back a little bit after giving us a short hiatus this last week or so. These things among others has just made me feel kind of blah on this Tuesday morning. It is good to remember things that I love and enjoy.

tuesday: something to love
I don't know about you. . .but baked goods have always been a staple in my food groups. I have been in a kitchen since I was 5. I really have been. My mom has the pictures to prove it. I almost got the boot once when my mom told me that I couldn't cook any more until I started cleaning up my messes. Needless to say, I learned how to clean up after myself.
But baked goods have always been a part of my life. I think it comes from my dad's side of the family because my grandma is a fantastic baker!! I was so privileged to get to learn from her during the years that I lived close to my grandparents. I loved getting to spend time in her kitchen.
Here are a couple of things I have been baking lately.
Have I ever mentioned that I'm a bit obsessed with British things?? No, well, I am. Scones being among the things I am obsessed with, and my roommate got this fantastic cookbook from a tea shop in New York that has fabulous scone recipes. This is the pumpkin scone. . .with some clotted cream, of course! Oh, and you can't tell from the picture, but this was fresh out of the oven. . .soooo delicious!!
A blogger I follow had posted about the cinnamon rolls that she made during the snowpocalypse of 2011, and I therefore was craving some cinnamon rolls for about 2 weeks before I gave in and made them. Wow, so good!! Looking at this picture is making me crave them again. . .maybe sometime.

where i want to be right now
Have I mentioned that I like the beach? It's warm, the sun is shining, the ocean is providing the background melody. And it's not cold or snowy or miserable. Yes, I wish to be on the beach. . .now where is my genie??

tuesday: something to love
And I'm back. . .thanks to my mum generously loaning me her computer and sending it to me in the mail, I now have a computer again. Thanks Mum!!
Okay, so I made it through almost a week of the snow before I decided that I have had enough and I am ready for Spring. This is progress, my friends. All of that to say that I hate winter, but there was a day that it was snowing outside and it was really pretty, so I went and snapped a couple of pics.
Then the other night shortly before sunset, the clouds broke and there was a brief bit of sunlight.
But nothing really warms my heart like a nice bowl of chili and a glass of red wine inside my sung, warm house. That and the consolation that winter won't last forever. Amen!

there has been a death
My poor, dear, faithful computer has died. Rest in peace, Watson. My lovely roommate is allowing me to use hers, so I thought I would give you all a heads up as to why I will probably not be blogging for a while. Things are in the works that I could get a new to me computer sometime in the near future, but until then, I will be taking a small sabbatical from blogging.
This could be good for us both. You know absence makes the heart grow fonder.

things i miss about. . .summer
O Summer how I miss thee!! I miss wearing lots of bracelets and jewelry in general. I miss going barefoot in the backyard. I miss wearing my sunglasses all the time. I miss anklets. I miss warmth. These photos were taken on the 29th of January. Before the great snowstorm of 2011 hit. It was a lovely day of warmth before the winter became fierce.

tuesday: something to love
I am officially changing my something to love posts to Tuesdays for several reasons.
1) I can never seem to actually remember to post on Mondays, yet I always seem to remember on Tuesdays.
2) Mondays are actually usually good days for me. I have the day off, so Mondays don't really bother me.
3) Tuesdays are my Monday.
4) It's my blog. . .I do what I want.
(Just kidding on that last one.)
So here we go. . .
These are flower pots. . .used as a point of reference for how much snow we have. . .that's a good 6-8 inches right there. . .hello Snowpocalypse!!

my backyard
Okay, so normally, snow would not make the things I love list, however, due to the large amount of snow that we have received and are continuing to receive, I got a snow day from work, so I didn't even have to leave my house today (with the exception of the 3 minutes I went in the backyard to snap these pictures). I have decided I don't mind snow if I am in a lovely warm house, and I don't have to leave or deal with the snow. So today, my love is going out to the Snowpocalypse for giving me a day to stay home and do nothing. Thanks!
